Where It Started
Cottage Beams grew out of a family business designing and installing fireplaces for homeowners across the UK. It was through that work — specifying, fitting and seeing how the right oak beam could transform a room — that Adam saw an opportunity to do things differently.
Rather than continuing as installers, he made the decision to step back from installation work entirely and build Cottage Beams into a dedicated oak workshop and e-commerce business, focused entirely on making the best handcrafted oak beams, shelves and mantels available online. The fireplace expertise stayed. The compromise on quality didn’t.

We work exclusively with responsibly sourced, PEFC-certified solid oak, selected for its strength, grain character and longevity. No veneers. No hollow construction. No imitation finishes.
Just real oak, worked by hand. From machining and sanding through to finishing and packing, every piece passes through
our workshop before it reaches you. Because oak is a natural material, each product carries its own grain patterns, knots and texture — giving it an authentic character that cannot be replicated by manufactured alternatives.
