Most solid oak fireplace beams are too heavy for a plasterboard chimney breast — the wall simply can't take the weight of a full solid section. This collection solves that problem. Each beam is built with a hollow engineered core and a genuine solid oak face, giving you the same appearance, grain detail, and finish as our full solid beams, at a fraction of the weight.
How it works. The outer shell is solid oak — the same sustainably sourced timber we use across all our ranges, finished in your chosen style and colour. The core is hollow, which keeps the overall weight low enough to fix safely to a plasterboard wall using our purpose-made fixing system. The result is indistinguishable from a solid beam once installed.
Available in four styles. Farmhouse, Country Cottage, Rustic Reclaimed, and Contemporary — all available in this lightweight format. Four finishes (natural, warm, dark, and white oak), and made to measure from 80cm to 240cm in length. The same style choices as our solid beam range, built for a different wall type.
Fixing guidance. We supply a dedicated fixing kit designed for use with stud walls and plasterboard. If you're unsure whether your wall can support a standard solid beam, this is the right option.
